SPEAKER Eric Franklin, Esri, Sales Manager, Natural Resources Eric Franklin is the Sales Manager for team managing the global accounts in the Natural Resources group at Esri. This team covers the Oil & Gas, Pipeline, Mining, Forestry and Agriculture sectors. Eric has been at Esri for approximately 2 years, prior to that he held sales leadership positions with energy financial software, hosting/datacenter technology and telecommunications companies.

GIS has long been integrated with EAM systems as a critical component of the application landscape. Today GIS integration is moving well beyond EAM and doing much more than guiding field crews to assets. It is guiding the entire organization to better decisions.

The location of assets, fixed or mobile, is critical to Operations, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales as well as external partners and customers. Yet the notion of “spatial master data” doesn’t get the same attention nor is it fully leveraged like other master data.

This session discusses how Location Data Management – the GIS function of collecting, organizing, and exchanging geographic data – is becoming more integrated with business data and used by a wide range of internal and external users. We will discuss the patterns and methods of integration with business systems and the people who use them, and see that spatial data is Data in Motion, moving across the organization to help users of all kinds “see” their data and make better decisions.
